December 2004: In Memory of Elmer Spratt, Glendale Hose Co. No. 1
Bower Hill Volunteer Fire Department extends its condolences to our brothers and sisters of Glendale Hose Company No. 1 and to the family of Glendale life member Elmer Spratt, who died December 13, 2004 at the age of 84. Elmer served Scott Township with pride and dedication. He will be missed, and he will be remembered. May he rest in peace.
December 2004: Santa's On His Way
Santa's coming to visit Bower Hill. He'll be touring the neighborhoods on one of Bower Hill's fire engines on Saturday, December 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. He'll be making a special stop for the residents of Vanadium Woods Village at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 12.
November 2004: New Squad Ordered
At the November 2005 meeting, the membership of the Bower Hill Volunteer Fire Department voted to replace the existing Squad 255, a 1995 Chevrolet 4x4 Pickup, with a new 2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4x4 Pickup. The vehicle will be equipped with more utility storage than the existing squad, and will have a pull-out bed tray for easier and safer access to heavy equipment. The new squad will be configured for easier use on Carbon Monoxide Alarm calls, which now make up a significant part of the department's wintertime call volume.
