Scott Township Improves ISO Rating
At the start of the new year, Scott Township was informed by the Insurance Service Organization (ISO) that effective April 1, 2013, the township's fire protection class has been upgraded from a 5 to a 3. A "3" rating is a significant achievement for a community with an all-volunteer firefighting force. In Allegheny County, only two communities, Scott Township and Mt. Lebanon, have achieved this rating, and only one, Pittsburgh, rates higher, with a rating of 2. The Scott Township fire departments were able to prove to ISO evaluators that their training, equipment, record keeping, operating procedures, response times and number of firefighters responding to each incident meet the higher standard.
The Scott Township Fire District thanks the Scott Township commissioners and the township manager for their invaluable assistance in this endeavor.
If you are a Scott Township resident, you need to check your homeowner's insurance policy, and make sure that the property location is listed as "Scott Township." This could save you money on your premiums.
