1924 Combination Chemical Car and Hose Wagon (1925 - 1926)

By the Spring of 1925, Bower Hill VFD had accumulated sufficient resources to buy a Model T Ford truck and install a Howe Combination Chemical Car and Hose Wagon body on it. In addition to the nozzle, spanner and axe from the previous fall, the firefighters now have an additional nozzle and spanner, and a water extinguisher.

Yes, people misspelled names back in the 1920s, too.


The original of this photo, with a slightly wider view, shows that Bower Hill is a pleasant-looking place in 1925, even if the main road, Montogomery Avenue, isn't paved yet.

There are some advantages to this, though. If you tried to pose this picture at the same spot in 2007, you'd tie up traffic for 100 yards in both directions.
