Bower Hill allows its chief officers to respond directly to the scene of an incident. All other firefighters must respond to the station. In order to help the chief set up command operations early in an incident, the department bought this vehicle to be assigned to the chief (or, in his absence, the ranking chief officer).


The vehicle carried command status boards, hazardous materials infomation guides, and other useful command materials.



The vehicle was minimally marked. It had no fixed designation, but assumed the call sign of the officer operating it. Since it was intended to be used primarily by the chief, it carried those graphics.


It could also be used as an additional Squad vehicle for fire schools and meetings, and was particularly useful in shuttling firefighters between incidents during severe weather conditions.
