The co-ownership of the Scott Township EMS back up ambulance worked well, so when it came time to replace the 2001 ambulances, Bower Hill and Glendale decided to jointly purchase and own the replacements.  With the input of the STEMS leadership, the appartus committees of each department agreed to buy smaller vehicles than the former models. The "mini-mod" type offers easier handling, better power-to-weight ratio, better fuel economy, and less wear on suspension parts.


These units feature a sliding side door for better safety with close clearances and passing traffic. The reflective striping also offers a measure of safety from traffic. These vehicles are also equipped with back-up cameras for safety while backing up, and the Drive Cam vehicle monitoring system to improve driver performance.



The interior design puts all needed equipment within easy reach of the patient attendant, and the cot is easy to remove from the vehicle without excessive reaching. 


The exterior compartmentation is adequate and relatively spacious for the size of the vehicle. The paint scheme and graphics make the vehicle look larger than it is, and when these units went into service, many casual observers didn't notice the change from their larger predecessors.
