TYPES OF MEMBERSHIPS

Active Membership is for residents of Scott Township who are at least 18 years of age, who are interested in active firefighting or emergency service provision.

Associate Membership is for residents of other municipalities in Allegheny County who are at least 18 years of age, who are interested in active firefighting or emergency service provision in the Bower Hill community.

Reserve Membership is for former Active or Associate members who have moved out of Allegheny County and are active in firefighting or emergency services in their new communities, but who wish to be able to provide active firefighting or emergency service assistance to Bower Hill when they are in the area.

Life Membership is an honor bestowed on any member of any other category who has served Bower Hill for twenty consecutive years and who requests to be so recognized.

Probationary Membership is required of prospective Active or Associate Members for one year from their acceptance into the department, during which time the member must complete the requisite initial training courses.

Junior Membership is for students from ages 14 to 17 years inclusive who are interested in learning about firefighting and emergency services. Chartiers Valley High School awards community service hours to students who participate in the Junior Fire Brigade.

Friends of the Department are members at least 18 years of age, who do not wish to perform active firefighting or emergency service work, but who wish to support the department in activities, events and fundraisers, or with assistance in business operations.

Honorary Membership is an honor bestowed on other members of the community who have performed some distinguished service to the department. Honorary members are invited to participate at social gatherings of the department, but have no other rights or duties within the department.

We also remember those who have served Bower Hill as firefighters and auxiliary members in the past. See our Memorial Page.
